Let Them Rest

Writer's picture: M. Virginia SouthworthM. Virginia Southworth

This summer, my friend Sharon told me how she went to the Sacrament of Confession or Reconciliation, and the priest fell asleep hearing her Confession. I thought that was funny.

I mean, think of the things that you could say, and then you are good to go with no worry of the priest even thinking of them. Then, a couple of months ago, this happened to me; serves me right for laughing at my friend. Should I be complimented or insulted? Bishop Fulton Sheen said that hearing the confessions of religious is like being stoned to death with pop corn.

Well, then, yesterday, I taught my usual Catechism class to the 4th, 5th and 6th graders. One little gal, Amarilla, fell fast asleep for the entire class. It got me thinking. My sister Annie says that my voice always lulls her to sleep. My mother agreed. I guess that is good if people are relaxed and comfortable.

I will end here.... in case I put you to sleep.
